I am indeed privileged to be appointed as the International System Safety Society (ISSS) Singapore Chapter new President for the next 2 years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our past presidents, Eng Ling, Michael Tan, Yue Sang and Seet Ting for their invaluable contributions over the years. Their dedication to System Safety has seen the birth of ISSS Singapore Chapter in 2002 (the first chapter outside US) and has made significant achievements throughout the years such as organising the first Regional conference and putting us in Facebook. Our Singapore Chapter has expanded its memberships to more than 200 strong and continues to play active roles in promoting System Safety in Singapore especially within the defense industry.

The Singapore Chapter has built a strong foundation since its inaugural, and I hope to continue the good work done by the Executive Committee (Ex-Co) members. The plan for the next 2 years is to build on the current strong base of affiliates and to further expand System Safety outreach to other industries such as transport, chemical, construction etc. in Singapore. This could be achieved primarily by promoting the Singapore Chapter and the International System Safety Society as a whole to these industries. The outreach would primarily be through extending courses and talks conducted by the Ex-Co members to these industries. , Our sharing sessions and workshops to share the various industries practices in implementing System Safety could result in cross fertilising of ideas. I would like to urge all affilaites to play an active role in contributing to the Singapore Chapter by volunteering in our activities or dropping me an email on how we can make the Chapter better.

Last but not least, I am grateful for our new and existing Ex-Co members for volunteering to serve for this term. Together, I believe we can make this world a safer place to work, live and play.
