   President's Message

Ten Lin Mei
President

This year, the Singapore Chapter of International System Safety Society (ISSS) has entered into the second decade since it was founded in year 2003. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our past presidents, Eng Ling, Michael Tan, Yue Sang, Seet Ting, and Kwee Seng for their invaluable contributions over the years. They have continued serving in the new EXCO or have continued their support to the Chapter’s activities.

Being appointed as the Chapter’s President for the next 2 years of a new decade, I have the responsibility to further the efforts in promoting system safety together with the new EXCO. One of the plans for the next 2 years is to promote better integration of system safety into systems engineering and operation/support. Our Chapter has built up a strong membership base of more than 200 affiliates over the past 10 years. We will reach out to more systems engineers, system managers, as well as system safety practitioners, to our sharing sessions and workshops. Besides organizing system safety courses, the Chapter EXCO will also look into ways to encourage designing for safety. We have discussed a few possibilities and will further explore the options in the next few months.

No plan can be executed without committed people. I am grateful to our new and existing EXCO members for volunteering to serve for this term. Together, I believe we can keep the Singapore Chapter active in promoting system safety and further increase the participation from practitioners
